Massachusetts Medical Technology Veterans Program

Help provide opportunities for our returning heroes to bring their talents and skills to the medical technology/medical device industry! On Veterans Day, the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center and MassMEDIC, in partnership with the International Center for Professional Development (ICPD), launched the Massachusetts Medical Technology Veterans (MassMVP) Program for U.S. military veterans residing in Massachusetts.

Through MassMVP, up to 50 Massachusetts veterans will be provided with training and networking opportunities within the medical device and diagnostics industry sectors, including opportunities to exchange knowledge with industry experts. The goal of the program is to provide vets with access to employment opportunities in the medical device sectors. Medical devices are Massachusetts' number-one export. Careers in med-tech are exciting, meaningful and well-paid, and Massachusetts companies need the types of skills, dedication and talent that vets bring to the workforce.

The program will kick off with a one-day training on February 14, 2013 at UMass Boston. During the training, returning veterans will be paired with medical technology experts from across the Commonwealth who will serve as mentors, and guide the participating veterans through their job search within the med-tech industry. Following the training, participants will receive one year of support using the MVP's online social media tool and mentoring portal. Participants will also be eligible to apply to the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center’s Internship Challenge program, which subsidizes 12-week paid internships at med-tech companies.

Please help inform veterans about this opportunity through your respective networks. Veterans of all ages and education levels are encouraged to apply and participation is free. Additional information and the online application are available at www.massmvp.org (click here to download a PDF of the program flyer). The application deadline is January 15, 2013!
