The Boston Area Girls' STEM Collaborative is sponsoring a week-long program for middle school girls during April vacation and in July. Pick up and drop off are at Boston University. Students visit five college campuses and/or and local industry venues, where they engage in hands-on activities focused on engineering, technology, and computing.
The following is a sample of possible activities (please note they will vary from program to program):
- Build a solar car;
- Develop a phone app;
- Learn Scratch Animation;
- Create wearable electronics.
Tech Savvy is sponsored by the Boston Area Girls STEM Collaborative. Its members include the following organizations and institutions: Ben Franklin Institute of Technology, Boston University, Emmanuel College, Girls Scouts of Massachusetts, Harvard University, Northeastern University, Science Clubs for Girls, Simmons College, UMass Boston, Wentworth Institute of Technology, and WGBH.
