Metro North event for professionals interested in STEM

STEM in education and in the workforce

Event: Bridging the Workforce Gap: In-Demand STEM Occupations in the Metro North Region, hosted by the Metro North Regional Employment Board
Date: Friday, June 26, 2013
Time: 9 A.M. - 12 P.M.
Location: Horace Mann Room, 1st Floor Conference Center, Microsoft New England Research and Development (NERD) Center, 1 Memorial Drive, Cambridge, MA
Information: To register for the event, please contact Meelynn Wong, (617) 871-1115. There is no fee to attend; however you must register, as space is limited. Parking in the garage at the NERD Center is a flat fee of $27.00. Continental breakfast will be provided.

This event is designed for professionals in the fields of education, training, and workforce development who are interested in learning more about the viable local STEM opportunities that are available to their customers and students. Each of the eight jobs featured offers opportunities for workers to develop skillsets that correspond to career pathways within a specific Metro North priority industry. Through a combination of videos and interactive discussion, the event will highlight the following careers:
  • Information Technology: Computer Support Specialist and Software Developer
  • Life Sciences: Biomedical Technician and Quality Control Technician
  • Healthcare: Clinical Lab Assistant and Medical Lab Technician
  • Advanced Manufacturing: CNC Operator and Mechanical Engineer
Attendees will leave with detailed information about each of the eight occupations and their associated career pathways, to share with their customers and students.
