This summer, five Boston High School students are participating in a
first-of-its-kind summer internship program at Genzyme that puts students directly
in touch with the multiple sclerosis patient community. During the paid
six-week internship, students are assisting local residents with varying
levels of disability caused by MS who need modifications made to their
homes to make them safer to navigate and more accessible.
During the internship, the students are also spending time at Genzyme,
providing feedback on their progress and exploring potential career
opportunities in health care. Students are meeting with different
functions that support Genzyme’s MS business unit, including drug
research and development, clinical research, marketing, sales, corporate
communications, medical affairs, business development and licensing,
and patient advocacy.
