Next Generation Science Standards Info Sessions

DESE is holding two informational meetings on the Next Generation Science Standards in January.

Next Generation Science Standards As part of the state’s effort to revised the current Science and Technology/Engineering (science) standards we have been participating in a collaborative multi-state effort to develop the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). This session will orient participants to the next public draft of the NGSS and the importance of public input to inform a state decision on whether the NGSS will be considered for adoption in Massachusetts. The session will review the process and current information on the revision of the science standards, including the development of the NGSS, and key shifts or implications revised science standards will have for students and educators. Participants will also learn about resources and efforts to support the eventual implementation of revised STE standards and related policy initiatives that will impact science education across the state.
